Why do some communities have more species than others?
Screen 2 of 7

SPECIES DIVERSITY
Species diversity is a function of both species richness and species evenness. Species richness measures the number of species in a given community. Species evenness is the distribution of each species within the community. In two communities with the same number of species (the same species richness), the one that has more individuals of each species evenness and therefore greater species diversity.
