INTERSPECIFIC COMPETITION
Interspecific competition occurs when individuals of different species compete for the same essential resource, such as food, water, or living space. Bluebirds and starlings both build their nests in holes in trees or fence posts and thus compete with one another for nesting sites. In the African savanna, hyenas and vultures compete with one another for the flesh of dead animals such as the dead elephant pictured here.
