How do hormones affect the activity of target cells?

SUMMARY
As shown, hormones activate target cells in a number of ways. The end result is always that the target cell responds to the hormonal signal and produces a desired outcome.

This process is important in controlling other processes such as reproduction, growth, and electrolyte balance. Along with our nervous system, our endocrine system is responsible for maintaining homeostatsis.
