  Part 6 | Chapter 34 Tutorial Home
What tissues are involved in the movement of substances entering they xylem in roots?
Screen 2 of 2

SUMMARY
Movement of substances from the soil environment into the root follows two pathways from cell to cell: along the cell walls (apoplastic path) or along the continuum of living cytoplasm (symplastic path). Eventually, substances travel into the cytoplasm of the endodermis, reach the xylem, and move upward to the aerial organs of the plant.
