SUMMARY
We have discussed the large phylum Arthropoda
that lives in diverse environments across the
globe. Current progress in identifying even more
species of arthropods is particularly evident
in rain forests. Here, researchers are exploring
the canopies of trees where new arthropod species
are commonly discovered. Identifying new species
rapidly is important because most of these rain
forests are decreasing in size due to logging
and other human development of these fragile landscapes.
Thus, a wide variety of unidentified arthropods
is presumed to be in danger of extinction.
