What makes seed plants so successful?

SUMMARY
Seed-bearing plants have significant reproductive advantages over non-seed-bearing plants: pollen does away with the need for water at the time of fertilization, and seeds facilitate the dispersal of embryonic sporophytes. Advantages in reproductive ability are advantages in the game of evolution.
