How are cell structures chemically and functionally coordinated?
Screen 4 of 7

THE GOLGI COMPLEX
The Golgi complex modifies and packages the glycoprotein. The Golgi complex also is a membranous structure that contains enzymes. It can contain phospholipids (C, H, O, P) and protein (C, H, O, N, and often S). Depending on their exact contents, some of these vesicles migrate to the plasma membrane where they fuse with the plasma membrane, and vesicle contents are released outside the cell.

Lysosomes, small sacs of digestive enzymes, are also formed from the Golgi complex. The digestive enzymes found in lysosomes are synthesized in the rough ER. The lysosome's enzymes break down bacteria and debris in the cell.
